Abstract

The invention relates to a system (100, 200, 300, 500) for process automation of a manufacturing plant, wherein the claimed system (300) for monitoring a manufacturing plant comprises:- a plurality of machines (140) of the manufacturing plant,- a plant machinery database (128, 548) comprising control parameters for the machines and comprising spatial information and/or status information of physical objects, the physical objects being the machines and/or objects processed by the machines;- an automation system (103) for automatically operating the machines in accordance with the control parameters in the plant machinery database;- an update engine (160) configured to continuously receive from a plurality of sensors (162) spatial information and/or status information of the physical objects during an ongoing manufacturing process and to update the plant machinery database with the received information;- a visualization database (130) comprising a sub-set of the data of the plant-machinery database;- a replication module (150) configured to continuously select data of the plant machinery database which enables generation of a digital visual representation of the one or more physical objects, whereby the selected data is free of the control parameters, and to replicate only the selected data to the visualization database;- a visualization engine (134) (a software program or a set of interoperable software programs) configured to generate a digital visual representation of the one or more physical objects as a function of the data in the visualization database;- a display device (154, 108) configured to display the visual representation of the one or more physical objects to a user to enable the user to monitor the manufacturing process.
