Abstract

A mechanism for estimating a value of a physical parameter at a sensing location. A pulsed electromagnetic wave is received by a sensing element at the sensing location. The sensing element comprises a capacitive element and resistive element connected in a loop. The impedance of the capacitive element and/or resistive element changes responsive to a change in the physical parameter at/near the sensing element. The loop creates an oscillating electromagnetic wave that changes responsive to the impedance of the capacitive/resistive element(s), and therefore the physical parameter. A detection element monitors the oscillating electromagnetic wave to produce an estimated value of the physical parameter at the sensing location.
