Abstract
A display apparatus (1) comprises a light source (6) configured to emit a light beam (4), a pulse generator (15) configured to generate a pulse train (13), a buffer (16) configured to store pixels (P<sub>i</sub>) of an image (2), a controller (12) configured to modulate the pulse train according to the pixels (P<sub>i</sub>) and to drive the light source (4) according to the modulated pulse train (17), a mirror assembly (7) configured to oscillate and scan the light beam over an image area (3) according to a scan pattern (5), and a mirror driver (9) configured to drive the mirror assembly (7), the pulse generator being configured to receive a brightness signal (B) and to generate the pulse train with a low/high pulse rate when the brightness signal indicates a low/high brightness. A method (31) displays pixels (P<sub>i</sub>) of an image (2) with a low/high pulse rate at a low/high brightness.
