Abstract

A thermal cleaning and disinfecting device (1) for cleaning and disinfecting items, comprising a washing chamber (2); a circulating pump (3) for circulating a cleaning and disinfecting liquid; a plurality of orifices (4) in the washing chamber (2) for applying the cleaning and disinfecting liquid to the items; a control device (5); and a heating system (6A, 6B, 6C) for heating the cleaning and disinfecting liquid, which comprises a steam generator (7) and a heat transfer device (8A, 8B, 8C). The heat transfer device (8A, 8B, 8C) receives steam generated by the steam generator (7) and the cleaning and disinfecting liquid circulated by the circulating pump (3), wherein the steam and the cleaning and disinfecting liquid mix, such that the steam condensates and transfers heat to the cleaning and disinfecting liquid. A corresponding method for heating the cleaning and disinfecting liquid by steam is also described.
