Abstract

A hybrid powerplant (20) for an aircraft includes a housing (22), an electric machine (38), a machine fluid circuit (42), a heat engine (56) and a geartrain (32). The housing includes a machine containment zone (138A) and an engine compartment (140) outside of the machine containment zone (138A). The electric machine (38) is arranged within the machine containment zone (138A). The machine fluid circuit (42) services the electric machine (38). The machine fluid circuit (42) extends in the machine containment zone (138A) and is arranged outside of the engine compartment (140). The heat engine (56) is arranged within the engine compartment (140). The geartrain (32) is operatively connected to the electric machine (38) and the heat engine (56).
