Abstract

A gas-sensing element for a gas sensor and a method of manufacturing thereof are disclosed. The gas-sensing element comprises a base having a metal oxide semiconductor formed of a first metal. Further, the gas-sensing element comprises a gas-sensing surface disposed on the base. The gas-sensing surface comprises a metal oxide semiconductor formed of the first metal and at least one dopant having at least one of a second metal and at least one compound. Further, the gas-sensing element comprises at least one inert conducting element disposed between the base and the gas-sensing surface. The at least one inert conducting element is adapted to maintain a predefined minimum conductivity of the gas-sensing element.
