Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a washing machine control unit (101) configured to control components (132, 134, 136) of a washing machine (100) to perform a dedicated washing cycle specifically adapted to reduce detachment of microfibres. The washing machine control unit comprises a processor (104), a component interface (110) configured to be connected with at least one component of the washing machine and to transmit a control signal to the at least one component, and a memory (108) configured to store processor-executable instructions. The processor, when executing the processor-executable instructions stored in the memory, is configured to receive a user input to apply the dedicated washing cycle specifically adapted to reduce detachment of microfibres, and configure the component interface to transmit control signals to the at least one component to perform the dedicated washing cycle.
