Abstract
A gas turbine engine (20) includes a compressor section (24) and a turbine section (28). A heat exchanger (102) is operable to cool a fluid utilized by a component of the gas turbine engine (20). The heat exchanger (102) has an inlet (106) and an outlet (112) for the accessory fluid. A strain gauge (118) is associated with the fluid inlet (106) and operable to produce a signal indicative of a temperature of the fluid at the fluid inlet (106) and a strain gauge (120) is associated with the fluid outlet (112) and operable to produce a signal indicative of a temperature of the fluid at the fluid outlet (112). A controller (99) determines a temperature differential across the heat exchanger (102) by utilizing the signal from the strain gauge (118) at the fluid inlet (106) and the signal from the strain gauge (120) at the fluid outlet (112). A method and a heat exchanger (102) are also disclosed.
