Abstract

It is described a device and a method of protecting a hydraulic pitch cylinder (10) of a rotor blade (6) for a wind turbine (1). The device comprises a base (13) of the rotor blade (6); the pitch cylinder (10), which comprises a first bracket (11) at one end and a second bracket (12) at another end, wherein the first bracket (11) is configured to be connected to a rotor (4) of the wind turbine (1) and the second bracket (12) is connected to the base (13) of the rotor blade (6) of the wind turbine (1); and a mechanical stop device (14) which is configured to limit a maximum relative rotation between the base (13) of the rotor blade (6) and the rotor (4) of the wind turbine (1) so that a stroke of the pitch cylinder (10) is kept smaller than a maximum permissible or maximum possible stroke of the pitch cylinder (10).
