Abstract
The invention relates to a method for monitoring a Li-ion battery pack (10) comprising battery cells (14), a Li-ion battery module (12) comprising battery cells (14), or a Li-ion battery cell (14), each cell (14) comprising negative active material with a silicon-based material, the method comprising charging and using the pack or module or cell, said using leading to a discharge. The method comprises: - measuring the voltage of each cell and/or pack and/or module during the discharge, - generating an electrochemical profile during the discharge, the electrochemical profile representing the voltage depending on the capacity and being calculated from the measured voltage(s), - determining from the electrochemical profile the contribution of the silicon-based material to said electrochemical profile, and - detecting an early indicator of imminent lithium plating based on the determined contribution.
