Abstract

The invention relates to a turning tool (1) comprising a tool body (2) and a cutting insert (3a). The tool body comprises an insert seat with a bottom surface and two side wall sections. A stiff member (16) interconnects the side wall sections at upper parts thereof and is provided with stop surfaces. The cutting insert (3a) comprises top (7) and bottom surfaces interconnected by a circumferential side surface (9) and two opposite nose portions (10a) provided with cutting edges. The cutting insert further comprises contact surfaces (17a-17d) on the top surface thereof associated with and configured to bear against to get support by the stop surfaces on the stiff member in a mounted state of the tool. The invention also relates to a cutting insert and tool body for such a tool and methods for producing a turning tool and a cutting insert.
