Abstract
An apparatus for manufacturing rod-shaped elements for aerosol-generating articles, comprises an extraction device configured to extract a sheet of material (11) from a storage (13) and to guide it along a conveying path, a weakening device (23) placed along the conveying path and configured for weakening the sheet of material, a folding and wrapping device (15) placed downstream of the weakening device and configured for gathering the sheet of material in a rod-shaped configuration and to wrap the sheet of material in a wrapper and forming a continuous rod, a cutting device (22) placed downstream of the folding and wrapping device and configured for cutting the continuous rod in a plurality of rod-shaped elements. The weakening device comprises one or more laser sources (25) configured for making weakened lines into the sheet of material through a laser beam.
