Abstract
Disclosed is an optical fiber cable (100, 200, 300) comprising: a plurality of optical fibers (102); a thermoplastic layer (104) extruded over the plurality of optical fibers (102) to form an optical unit (108) such that the thermoplastic layer (104) contacts a surface area in a range of 50% to 95% of each optical fiber of the plurality of optical fibers (102); and a sheath (106) that surrounds the optical unit (108).
