Abstract

A label affixing device 1 peels and affixes a label without peeling away a margin region in a print tape. After the final label is peeled off, a section from a leading end portion of a label 160 to a print position PR is a discard label 161. While transporting tape 150 with a transport roller 34, the CPU applies a slack prevention current to the motor driving a reel 80. This occurs from when the discard label 161's leading end passes a peeling position PL until it reaches discard position DP, generating a non-peeling tension in a release material 170 by driving the winding portion with a load less than the peeling load. After the leading end portion of the discard label 161 reaches the discard position DP, a winding current generating peeling tension is applied to the motor, and the reel 80 wounds up the release material 170.
