Abstract

A method for efficiently multiple loading substrates (S, S', S") simultaneously onto an endless transport belt (4) of a printer (1), comprising the steps of: - engaging each substrate (S, S', S") by an array of grippers (30,30'; 130; 230), each being rotatably mounted on a support beam (26); - pivoting and/or rotating the support beam (26) with the grippers (30,30'; 130; 230) gripping the substrates (S, S', S"), so that the substrates (S, S', S") are positioned on the transport belt (4) over a at least one suction chamber (5); - driving the transport belt (4) to move the substrates (S, S', S"), while a negative pressure is applied to the substrates (S, S', S") via the at least one suction chamber (5), so that trailing portions of each of the substrates (S, S', S") are pulled onto the belt (4).
