Abstract
A method and apparatus for determining a chest function of a subject are provided. The method includes projecting, by a projector, a projection pattern including a number of optical markers onto a chest of the subject. The method further comprises capturing, by a stereo-camera system, a series of images of the projection pattern from at least two angles as the subject breathes. Each optical marker from the projection pattern is imaged from both of the at least two angles at the same time. The method further comprises tracking, by a processor, a movement over time of the projection pattern based on the captured series of images by tracking a movement over time of each of the optical markers in the captured series of images. The method also comprises determining, by the processor, at least one parameter indicative of the chest function of the subject based on a result of the tracking.
