Abstract

The disclosure relates to a clutch assembly (40) for drivingly connecting a first shaft (46) and a second shaft (50). The clutch assembly (40) comprises a first connection body (44) rotatable around an axis (A) and drivingly connectable to the first shaft (46). Further, the clutch assembly (40) comprises a second connection body (48) that is rotatable around the axis (A) and drivingly connectable to the second shaft (50). At least one engagement element (52) is supported on the first connection body (44) in a radially movable manner such that the at least one engagement element (52) can assume a retracted radial position and, subject to a centrifugal force, an extended radial position (60). At least one depression is provided on the second connection body (48) and configured to receive at least a portion of the engagement element (52). Moreover, the clutch assembly (40) comprises a locking mechanism (56) configured to selectively lock the at least one engagement element (52) in the retracted radial position. Additionally, an axle assembly is described which comprises such a clutch assembly (40), an electric machine, and a flange. Furthermore, a use of a centrifugal clutch, a vehicle and a method for operating a clutch assembly (40) are presented.
