Abstract

An assembly (100) for measuring an amount of rain on a surface (200) comprises a piezo-electrical element (500); an evaluation electronics (700); and the surface (200) having a first side (202), and a second side (204) opposite to the first side (202), wherein the second side (204) is exposed to at least one rain drop (R). The assembly (100) is characterized in that the piezo-electrical element (500) is in direct contact with the first side (202) of the surface (200) such that a structureborne sound of the at least one rain drop (R) hitting the second side (204) is detectable by the piezo-electrical element (500). The piezo-electrical element (500) is further connected to the evaluation electronics (700), wherein the piezo-electrical element (500) generates an electrical signal representative for the detection of the at least one rain drop (R), and wherein the electrical signal is sent to the evaluation electronics (700) for evaluating the amount of rain on the surface (200).
