Abstract

An apparatus is provided for an aircraft. This apparatus includes an acoustic panel (20), and the acoustic panel (20) includes a face skin (34), a back skin (36) and a cellular core (38) disposed between and connected to the face skin (34) and the back skin (36). The back skin (36) laterally overlaps the face skin (34) and includes an aerogel layer (66). The cellular core (38) includes a plurality of cavities (80) that extend through the cellular core (38) from the face skin (34) to the back skin (36). Each of the cavities (80) is fluidly coupled with one or more perforations (54) in the face skin (34).
