Abstract

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for dynamically selecting and/or signaling a choice of syntax element distribution model. For example, syntax elements may be encoded based on a context-adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) context, an NABAC context, or a context adaptive equi-probable (EP) coding context. A device (e.g., a decoder) may entropy decode a syntax element. The syntax element may comprise bits coded in corresponding bins. The decoder may determine the bit count associated with the syntax element (e.g., the number of bits that comprise the syntax element). The device may determine a context associated with the most significant bit (MSB) of the syntax element based on the bit count. The device may entropy decode the syntax element based on the determined context associated with the MSB.
