Abstract
The present invention provides a composition for forming a molded product, comprising A a thermoplastic binder phase, and, dispersed in the thermoplastic binder phase B at least one material capable of reducing the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the composition; wherein the thermoplastic binder phase comprises at least A.1 one or more cyclic olefin copolymers and A.2 a thermoplastic material other than a cyclic olefin copolymer; wherein the amount of B the material capable of reducing the dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the composition 5% by weight or more, relative to the total weight of the composition, and wherein the total amount the one or more cyclic olefin copolymers is from 10 to 95% by weight of the total weight of the thermoplastic binder phase A. The composition is capable of providing a molded product having a low dielectric loss at wavelengths in the millimeter range and is thus suitable for applications as radome or as coverings and housings of cell phones, tablet computers, laptop computers, desktop computers, printers, scanners, remote controls, transmission towers, Wi-Fi transmission devices, routers, Wi-Fi repeaters, and gaming consoles. The present invention also relates to a method for forming a molded product, and a molded product having low dielectric loss obtained from the composition.
