Abstract

A planar transformer (100) is provided. The planar transformer (100) comprises a stack (140) comprising a plurality of planar windings (141) arranged one above the other, an outer core portion (120) comprising a first plate (122) and a second plate (124), an inner core portion (115) extending between the first plate (122) and the second plate (124), and at least one heat pipe (170). The planar windings (141) are disposed between the first plate (122) and the second plate (124). Each planar winding of the plurality of planar windings (141), the first plate (122) and the second plate (124) extend substantially parallel to each other. The at least one heat pipe (170) extends substantially parallel to the plurality of planar windings (141) and is disposed in a space formed between a planar winding of the plurality of planar windings (141) and any of: another planar winding of the plurality of planar windings (141), the first plate (122), or the second plate (124).
