Abstract

Front forks for bicycles are described herein. An example front fork (200) includes a leg (204, 206) including an upper tube (210, 212) and a lower tube (214, 216). The upper tube (210, 212, 120, 2310) and the lower tube (214, 216) are configured in a telescopic arrangement. The upper tube (210, 212) and the lower tube (214, 216) define an interior region (312, 326) that is sealed and contains a volume of air in the lower tube (214, 216). The front fork (200) also includes a valve (384, 386) coupled to the upper tube (210, 212) at or near a top end of the upper tube (210, 212). A flow path is formed between the volume of air in the lower tube (214, 216) and the valve (384, 386) such that when the valve (384, 386) is opened, pressure in the lower tube (214, 216) is equalized with atmospheric pressure.
