Abstract
A device may identify a plurality of samples in a region neighboring a video block. The device may identify a plurality of intra prediction modes that correspond to the plurality of samples in the region neighboring the video block. The device may construct a histogram of intra prediction mode occurrence based on the plurality of samples in the region and their corresponding intra prediction modes. The device may obtain a prediction of the video block based on the histogram of intra prediction mode occurrence. The device may encode and/or decode the video block based on the prediction of the video block. The device may obtain a prediction of the video block selecting an intra prediction mode having a highest occurrence value in the histogram of intra prediction mode occurrence.
