Abstract

A method comprising:obtaining (601) a reconstructed version of a second standard dynamic range (SDR) content and SL-HDR metadata allowing generating a first high dynamic range (HDR) content from first SDR content, the SL-HDR metadata comprising energy-aware information comprising a flag indicating that the first SDR content has been pre-processed to obtain the second SDR content, the second SDR content allowing obtaining an energy reduction either for displaying the second SDR content with respect to an energy consumed for displaying the first SDR content or for displaying an output HDR content generated from the second SDR content with respect to an energy consumed for displaying an output HDR content generated from the reconstructed version of the first SDR content;determining (602) from the energy-aware information whether to regenerate an output SDR content corresponding to the first SDR content from the second SDR content or to keep the second SDR content as the output SDR content;obtaining (603) an intermediate SDR content from the output SDR content based on the determining; and,generating (604) an output HDR content from the output SDR content.
