Abstract

A medical device (100) is disclosed, including electronic circuitry (120); a radiation shield that includes a protective coating (130), the coating (130) configured to protect the electronic circuitry (120) from radiation (150) for sterilization of the medical device (100), especially electron beam radiation and other charged particle beam radiation. The coating (130) is configured to protect the electronic circuitry (120) from a medically sterilizing dosage. The electronic circuitry (120) can include an application specific integrated circuit, ASIC, (120ic) and an authenticator (120a). The ASIC is coupled to sensor circuitry (160), such as a pressure sensor and/or a temperature sensor, such as in a microelectromechanical system.
