Abstract
There is provided a method, assemblies and a gas flow regulation system using a methane-rich gaseous fluid and liquefied carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide-comprising input gas stream. In this process, the input gas stream is first directed through a gas separation unit, which separates the gas into a methane-rich fluid and a stream enriched in carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen. The carbon dioxide and/or hydrogen-enriched stream is then processed in a CO<2> liquefaction assembly, and at least a portion of it is subsequently combined with hydrogen-preferably in a superstoichiometric H<2>:CO<2> ratio. This mixture feeds into a bio-methanation reactor, where methane is synthesized through the action of methanogenic microorganisms. The resulting methane-rich gaseous fluid from the reactor is recycled back to the gas separation unit for mixing with the initial input gas stream, creating a closed-loop process that eliminates the emission of CO<2>, CH<4>, or H<2> into the environment.
