Abstract

A method of producing an optical material comprising at least the following successive steps: (A) preparing in a tank a polymerizable composition by stirring at least one monomeric compound and at least one initiator, (B) performing a polymerization of said polymerizable composition in a polymerization device under a polymerization cycle including a plurality of phases comprising a first heating phase wherein the polymerization temperature is within the range from 20°C to 95°C for a first duration; characterized in that step (8) comprises a second heating phase, carried out after the first heating phase, wherein the polymerization temperature is higher than or equal to 95°C and lower than 130°C for a second duration within the range from 30 minutes to 3 hours.
