Abstract

A gas turbine engine (20) includes an open rotor propulsor (24) for delivering air into a core engine inward of an outer core panel (56). The core engine has a compressor section (28), a combustor (32) and a turbine section (36). An exit guide vane (52) extends radially outward of the outer core panel (56). The exit guide vane (52) has a pressure side (88) and a suction side (92) defined between a leading edge (96) and a trailing edge (100). The exit guide vane (52) includes at least one air scoop (104) configured to capture the air from the open rotor propulsor (24) and direct the captured air into the exit guide vane (52). A heat exchanger (124) is positioned in the outer core panel (56). The captured air is passed over the heat exchanger (124) and is configured to cool another fluid.
