Abstract
The present disclosure relates to an in vitro method for predicting the risk of occurrence of a pancreatic transplant failure in a recipient intended to receive a pancreatic transplant, wherein the pancreatic transplant originates from a donor, the method comprising at least the steps of; a) providing a biological sample previously obtained from the recipient; b) determining a biological score from the level of at least one protein biomarker selected from matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9), Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and Angiopoietin-2 (ANGPT2), measured in the biological sample; c) determining a clinical score from a plurality of clinical parameters from the donor and the recipient, those parameters being associated with a pancreatic transplant failure; d) determining a predictive risk score from the combination of the biological score determined in step (b) and the clinical score determined in step (c); e) comparing the predictive risk score obtained at step (d) with a predetermined reference value, and; f) concluding that the recipient is at high risk of having a pancreatic transplant failure if the predictive risk score is higher than the predetermined reference value or concluding that the recipient is at low risk of having a pancreatic transplant failure if the predictive risk score is lower than the predetermined reference value.
