Abstract

A placental imaging system comprises a hand held ultrasound imager for scanning over the lower abdomen of a patient and configured to generate image data. An AI algorithm is used to identify the location and shape of the placenta and cervix within the image data and determine the placenta to internal OS distance. It is thereby determined if the placenta has a positional abnormality, such as if it is low lying or not. A recommendation system receives a gestational age of the patient and the positional abnormality information to recommend a patient action.
