Abstract

A gas separation method for separating carbon dioxide and a gaseous substance A different from carbon dioxide, from a mixed gas containing the carbon dioxide and the gaseous substance A using an adsorption column packed with an adsorbent, the method including an adsorption step of introducing the mixed gas into the adsorption column to allow carbon dioxide to be adsorbed onto the adsorbent and to extract a gaseous substance A, a cleaning step of introducing carbon dioxide into the adsorption column to discharge the gaseous substance A in the adsorption column and to clean the adsorption column, and a desorption step of exhausting carbon dioxide under reduced pressure from the adsorption column, to extract the carbon dioxide from the adsorbent, in which an amount Q [NL] of the carbon dioxide introduced into the adsorption column in the cleaning step satisfies Q ≤ 5.5x under the assumption that a volume of the adsorbent packed in the adsorption column is x [L].
