Abstract

A sealing device (1) includes: a reinforcement ring (10); and an elastic body portion (20) that has a seal lip (21), is mounted on the reinforcement ring (10), and is formed with an elastic body. An atmosphere-side surface (23) of a lip distal end portion (22) of the seal lip (21) has an inhibition portion (30) which inhibits leakage of a sealed fluid to an atmosphere side (a) in forward rotation of a rotating shaft and has a storage portion (40) which stores the sealed fluid which leaks out to the atmosphere side (a) in reverse rotation of the rotating shaft (50). The inhibition portion (30) has a plurality of screw projections (31) for returning the sealed fluid, which leaks out, to a sealing target object side (b) by a pump action when the rotating shaft performs the forward rotation. The storage portion (40) has a weir portion (41) for blocking the sealed fluid, which leaks out to the atmosphere side (a), when the rotating shaft performs the reverse rotation.
