Abstract

Disclosed is a system and a method for checking the number of a plurality of cell modules connected to a battery management system (BMS). The system for checking the number of modules includes a message management unit that generates special messages to be transmitted to a first cell module among a plurality of cell modules connected in series or in parallel, and receives special messages received from an nth cell module, and a failure mode operation determination unit that receives information on whether the special messages are received from the message management unit and information on the special messages received from the nth cell module, and determines an entry to a failure mode.
