Abstract

This application discloses an assistance information sending method and receiving method, a terminal, and a network side device, which pertain to the field of communication technologies. The assistance information sending method in embodiments of this application includes: A terminal sends LP-WUS assistance information, where the LP-WUS assistance information is used to assist in at least one of the following: sending an LP-WUS to the terminal; scheduling the terminal; sending a control command to the terminal; and sending data to the terminal, where the LP-WUS assistance information includes at least one of the following: an expected time interval and preference information; where the terminal does not monitor a physical downlink control channel PDCCH or does not receive data sent by a network within the expected time interval; and the preference information includes at least one of the following: sleep mode preference information and LP-WUS indication content preference information.
