Abstract

Provided in the present application are a communication method and a core network element. The method comprises: on the basis of at least two of a plurality of desired capabilities, a first core network element selecting one or more target core network elements from among network elements to be discovered, wherein the desired capabilities are capabilities to which a second core network element desire to subscribe, and the target core network element supports some or all of the plurality of desired capabilities. In view of the at least two desired capabilities, a first core network element may select, as a target core network element, a network element which supports the at least two desired capabilities at the same time. That is, if there is a network element to be discovered which supports the at least two desired capabilities, said network element can be selected as a core network element. Compared with the manner in which suitable network elements are selected one by one in view of a certain capability, the solution can reduce the number of selected network elements, thereby reducing the number of target core network elements which interact with a second core network element, and thus avoiding the waste of signaling and reducing the complexity.
