Abstract

A printer is configured to deposit stacks of printed print media in multiple output stackers. The printer comprises a print engine for printing on the print media and a print controller comprising a print job queue comprising print jobs to be printed. Each print job comprises a first print job property which is an indication of a output stacker for depositing the printed sheets of the print job. The print controller comprises at least one stacker allocation algorithm for automatically allocating an output stacker for depositing the printed sheets of the print job. One of the at least one stacker allocation algorithm is determined to be a default stacker allocation algorithm. The print controller is configured to deposit the printed sheets of the print job to the output stacker indicated by a non-empty value of the first print job property and to deposit the printed sheets of the print job to the output stacker allocated by the default stacker allocation algorithm when the first print job property has no value.The present invention is also related to a method accordingly.
