Abstract
The invention relates to a brake release mechanism (24) for a spring brake actuator (2), in particular a parking or emergency spring brake actuator (2) for use in a commercial vehicle (1), wherein the spring brake actuator comprises a spring brake piston assembly (8) and an actuator power spring (6) configured to push the spring brake piston assembly (8) from a retracted position towards an extended position, said brake release mechanism (24) comprising a brake release bolt (30) that is configured to be rotatably mounted to the spring brake actuator (2), having a first bolt portion (31) that is configured to extend inside of the spring brake actuator, and a second bolt portion (32) that is configured to extend outside of the spring brake actuator (2), said first bolt portion (31) comprising a threaded portion (34), and the second bolt portion (32) comprising an operating section for operating the brake release bolt (30) when mounted to the spring brake actuator (2), and a running nut (12) engaging the threaded portion (34), said running nut (12) being configured to axially travel along the threaded portion (34) in order to move a spring brake piston assembly (8) against the actuator power spring (6). It is proposed that the operating section is a tool interface (14) that is integrally formed on the brake release bolt (30).
