Abstract
The present invention relates to a monovalent antibody or a monovalent antigen-binding fragment thereof that specifically binds to CD3, wherein the monovalent antibody comprises a heavy chain variable region and a light chain variable region, for use in selective depletion of activated T cells. According to one aspect of the present invention, the monovalent anti-CD3 antibody or monovalent antigen-binding fragment thereof selectively depletes activated T cells while relatively sparing non-activated T cells, and thus can be effectively and usefully used as a T-cell depleting agent or a T-cell immunosuppressive agent. In particular, the monovalent antibody or monovalent antigen-binding fragment thereof may be effectively used for preventing or treating T cell-mediated autoimmune diseases, graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), or organ transplant rejection, or for preventing GVHD-related adverse effects in allogeneic CAR-T cell therapies.
