Abstract
A wavelength dispersion measurement apparatus 1C includes a light source 10, a light pulse train generation unit 20, an optical amplifier 30, a measurement unit 40, a computing unit 50, a spectrometer 60, and a control unit 70. The light pulse train generation unit 20 generates a light pulse train including a first light pulse and a second light pulse based on a light pulse output from the light source 10. The spectrometer 60 measures a spectrum of the light pulse train output from the light pulse train generation unit 20 after passing through the optical amplifier 30. The control unit 70 controls generation of the light pulse train by the light pulse train generation unit 20 such that a spectrum shape of each of the first light pulse and the second light pulse is symmetric, based on the spectrum measured by the spectrometer 60. Thus, a wavelength dispersion measurement apparatus capable of accurately measuring a wavelength dispersion even for a sample in which a nonlinear optical phenomenon is likely to occur is realized.
