Abstract

The invention relates to a method for performing a handover operation of a user equipment in a mobile communication network, wherein the mobile communication network comprises a radio access network comprising a plurality of base station entities, wherein, prior to the handover operation, the user equipment is served by a source base station entity, and, subsequent to the handover operation, the user equipment is served by a target base station entity, wherein the method comprises the following steps:-- in a first step, the source base station entity transmits a handover request message to the target base station entity, and-- in a second step, the target base station entity transmits a handover request acknowledge message,wherein a history information element relating to the user equipment-- is either transmitted as part of the handover request message,-- or is transmitted, to the target base station entity, by the user equipment,wherein the history information element comprises a last data usage information comprising pieces of data usage information regarding base station entities previously used by the user equipment.
