Abstract
A method for generating a three-dimensional visualization for assessing a volumetric bone mineral density, vBMD, of a patient is provided, the method being performed by a computing system and comprising: obtaining (S1010) a computed tomography, CT, scanning image of a region of the patient; segmenting (S1020) at least one vertebra of the patient located within the obtained image; identifying (S1030), by a first artificial intelligence, AI, module, at least one segment of the at least one segmented vertebra and determine suitability for vBMD assessment of the at least one segmented vertebra based on the identified at least one segment; excluding (S1030) the at least one vertebra from the segmented image if it is determined to be unsuitable for vBMD assessment; calculating (S1050) a vBMD of a non-excluded at least one segmented vertebra; generating (S1070) a three-dimensional representation of the calculated vBMD; and visualizing (S1070) the generated three-dimensional representation on a display.
