Abstract

The invention relates to a milling insert (100) for mounting in a shoulder milling tool. The milling insert (100) comprises an upper rake surface (103), a bottom surface and a side surface (104). A cutting edge (106) is formed between the side surface (104) and the rake surface (103). The cutting edge (106) comprises a major cutting edge (107a, 107b), a corner radius cutting edge (108a, 108b), a surface wiping cutting edge (109a, 109b) and a ramping cutting edge (110a, 110b). Below the surface wiping cutting edge (109a, 109b), a lower secondary clearance surface has a wiper seating angle η<w> and an upper primary clearance surface has a wiper overhang angle β<w>. The wiper overhang angle β<w> is equal to or larger than 70° and the wiper seating angle η<w> is equal to or larger than the wiper overhang angle β<w>. The invention also relates to a milling tool provided with such inserts.
