Abstract

A packaging system (10), including an outer bag (36) constructed from a gas-impervious material, the outer bag including a valve (44) in fluid communication with an interior cavity (40) of the outer bag; one or more bags (24) positioned in the interior cavity of the outer bag, wherein each of the one or more bags includes a gas-impervious portion (32) and a porous portion (34) configured to allow a sterilizing gas to penetrate therein; one or more containers (12) positioned inside each of the one or more bags, wherein each of the one or more containers includes a porous portion configured to allow a sterilizing gas to penetrate therein; and one or more sterilizable items (18) positioned inside each of the one or more containers.
