Abstract

A washing machine includes an outer tub (100); an inner drum (200) arranged inside the outer tub (100); a water retaining ring (1) protruding inward is provided at an outer tub opening (102), and an end of the water retaining ring (1) protruding inward extends to at least near the outer wall of the inner drum (200), for blocking water between the inner drum and the outer tub from flowing towards the outer tub opening (102). By arranging a water retaining ring at the outer tub opening of the washing machine, the water retaining ring can shield the gap between the outer tub opening and the inner drum opening, effectively avoiding the splashing water in the gap between the inner drum and the outer tub from flowing out of the gap at the openings. Accordingly, the phenomenon of residual water accumulating at the outer tub opening cannot happen during the operation of the drum washing machine with a non-perforated drum, thereby it is avoided the problems such as water overflow and odor generation in the washing machine.
