Abstract

An image forming apparatus includes: an opening and closing unit mounted on an apparatus main body so as to be opened and closed; a transfer unit that is provided on the opening and closing unit and transfers an image onto a recording medium from an image holding unit at a transfer position; a transport roller pair that transports the recording medium to the transfer position; an inclination adjustment unit that adjusts an inclination of a first transport roller, of the transport roller pair, mounted on the apparatus main body; and a positioning and fixing unit that, when the opening and closing unit is closed, positions and fixes a second transport roller, of the transport roller pair, movably mounted on the opening and closing unit, to the apparatus main body, before the transfer unit comes into contact with the image holding unit, the positioning and fixing unit allowing the second transport roller to move in an adjustment direction of the inclination adjustment unit and restricting a position of the second transport roller when the second transport roller moves to an end portion of an apparatus main body area of the apparatus main body.
