Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for producing a chip card (2) having a design (6), whereby the chip card (2) has a protection layer protecting the design (6), whereby the method comprises the following steps of providing a card body (4), providing a design (6) on at least one side of the card body (4), applying a varnish layer (8) on at least the side of the card body (4) having the design (6), whereby the varnish layer (8) is the protection layer. Further, the present invention relates to an according chip card (2).
