A method (300) for providing guidance to a user (140) with regard to the preparation of a dish comprises steps of determining (305) a first cooking recipe, the first cooking recipe comprising preparation steps for preparing said dish; determining (310) user (140) actions with regard to the preparation of said dish; generating (315) a second cooking recipe, the second cooking recipe comprising preparation steps that match the user (140) actions more closely than the first cooking recipe; and offering (320) the user (140) to switch from the first to the second cooking recipe.
