Abstract
A method for determining a bone mineral density, BMD, of a patient is disclosed. The method is performed by a computing system and comprises: obtaining (S210) a computed tomography, CT, scanning image of a region of the patient, the scanning image acquired by a CT scanner using a first known parameter; mapping (S220), by a first artificial intelligence, AI, module, at least one attribute of the obtained scanning image into a space of an ideal CT scanner with known system settings using a first domain adaptation step, wherein the ideal scanner employs a second known parameter, wherein the first known parameter and the second known parameter relate to one another; adjusting (S240), by a second AI module, a BMD of the mapped image to remove patient-specific effects using a second domain adaptation step; delineating (S250) a region of interest of a bone of the patient within the adjusted image; and determining (S260) a BMD of the delineated region of interest of the bone.
