Abstract

A multi-agent computerized simulation system for training a user to operate a vehicle comprises an interactive computerized simulation station having tangible instrumentation enabling the user to control a simulated vehicle in a multi-agent simulation, a memory storing simulation data for the multi-agent simulation, and a processor configured to execute the multi-agent simulation. The simulation provides a simulated traffic controller having a traffic controller artificial intelligence that interacts verbally with the user to coordinate movement of the simulated vehicle. The simulation also provides one or more simulated external vehicles that simulate one or more external vehicles whose movement is scripted deterministically in the simulation. Alternatively, each simulated external vehicle is operated by an autonomous agent having Al controlling the simulated external vehicle by making observations and decisions and by reacting to verbal instructions received by the simulated traffic controller.
